Dr. Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, Head of the Department of Marketing and Corporate Strategy at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Business, (KSB) has been awarded as Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Researcher. He was awarded at the 4th SME Ghana Awards-SMEGA’16 held at the Banquet Hall recently.
The Awards ceremony was on the theme:” Sustaining Ghana’s SME’s in a Globally Competitive Market-Uncovering the Pillars of Profitable Growth in a Digitized Business World”.
The KNUST lecturer, received the award for being an outstanding personality who has devoted time and resources on research to improve the SME sector in Ghana.
For his prize, he received the prestigious SMEGA Trophy, a one-year free insurance cover, a citation, a Lenovo laptop and Business solutions packages.
The SME Ghana Awards is an initiative of “imagine8” in partnership with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the World Bank Association for SMEs, the Ghana Investment Promotion Council, Graphic Communications Group and other stakeholders.

According to Richard Norgah, Events Director of “imagine8”, the SMEGA scheme was instituted to recognize the countless achievements of Ghanaian SMEs and individuals of entrepreneurial excellence of various categories. The Award focuses on innovation, creativity, productivity, technology applications, good management practices, corporate governance, business growth and profitability.
Mr. Norgah further indicated that it also considers product quality, market competitiveness among businesses that ultimately promotes”Made-in-Ghana” products.
